Outside your comfort zone

Just arrived in Hong Kong after spending 5 days in Taiwan. Taiwan was great and fun, with good food, amazing culture. The experience was really fantastic.

After spending time in Taiwan and a day in Hong Kong with a particular friend, i came to realise that only outside of a person’s comfort zone would you really get to know what a person is really like. As the saying goes, only in difficult times would you get to know a person better.

I’ve come to realise that this particular friend of mine really lacks independence. Is it the Singapore culture or was he brought up this way. When encountered with a problem, he would mop around the problem and not go and find a solution. This really shows how come Singaporeans are so well taken care and protected of that they lack the basic ability to solve problems head on as most of the time they have people to do these for them. It’s also amazing as to how he’s so unprepared yet he cannot even be bothered about it at all.

This goes to show alot about a person. These are all basic survival skills and i believe that without these skills, how is a person expected to survive in the future. Is this the kind of people that we have in Singapore, to me now i feel like im just brining a shadow along with me, was it a wrong choice to go on this trip after all? Honestly speaking, i do not know, maybe time will give me the answer.
